Elk for Patents (EfP)

As it has been announced in the Corpora-List for instance, there is now a free software devoted to deal with patents, Elk for Patents (EfP). Here I paste the announcement, since I think it can be useful to do at least some manual analysis within MOLTO.


A free program called Elk for Patents (EfP) includes Download Patents, to manage collections of patent texts. You can select lists of patents and analyze lexical and syntactic structure of patent claims.

EPO and Google partner up

In the news, the EPO will use Google's machine translation technology to translate patents into the languages of the 38 countries that it serves. In return, it will provide Google with access to its translated patents, enabling Google to optimise its machine translation technology.

META Forum 2010 - Challenges for Multilingual Europe

The slides of the presentations delivered during last week's meeting are now online. Especially of interest to MOLTO is the contribution by Georg Artelsmair (European Patent Office, Germany): Recent Developments in Machine Translation Policy at the European Patent Office.

MOLTO cooperates with META NET

MOLTO is in the process of formalizing a cooperation agreement with META NET. The first result of this cooperation is the presence of MOLTO at the META FORUM in Brussels on 17-18 November, 2010. Aarne Ranta and Olga Caprotti will be presenting MOLTO during the poster and demo session.

ACL-HLT 2011 Call for Tutorial Proposals

The 16th ACM SIGPLAN International Conference on Functional Programming (ICFP 2011) will be held in Tokyo, Japan on September 19-21, 2011.
