WP11: ACE wiki

1. Practical things

ACEwiki is at github. GF version of ACE: code is at grammaticalframework.org darcs repo. Let's not move them to MOLTO svn.

MOLTO semantic wiki -- New branch of ACEwiki in github. Development will be public.

2. Properties of the wiki

• Dynamically created articles

  • user wants to know everything about word -> they click the word
  • a query is performed to extract all trees that have the word

  • trees are linearized = an article is created

    • users can only click content words; so there wouldn't be an article about "the"
    • how?

• two views

  • query, dynamic pages
  • pages structured by the user

• articles written in different grammars - distinct spaces? scope?

• could we combine facts from different grammar to one dynamic article?
• searches over text and over trees
• Decision: Postponed

3. ACE in GF

GF version of ACE doesn't match coverage and precision of the current version of ACE 6.6. (Initial GF ACE was of ACE 6.0.)

• In progress: ACE to RGL by using the same functor with regular English
• In progress: Multilingual ACEowl-ACEwiki (subset of ACE) GF grammar

(Size of ACE around half of RGL)

Problems in multilinguality:

• More general rules to anaphora (rule "latest NP" doesn't work multilingually, different word orders; gender agreement)
  • disambiguation grammar for pronouns, show possible antecedents
  • no pronouns at all?
• Negative determiners in other languages "no planet is a dwarf-planet"
  • combined negatives "no man loves no woman"
  • have to add manual work, hard to do with functor
• Decisions: Postponed

4. Promises for the deliverable at the end of May

• Multilinguality: English, German, Finnish, Urdu, Italian, French, Swedish (, Hindi, Spanish, Catalan?)
• Simple forms of anaphoric references: definite noun phares, no pronouns. Only one possible antecedent.
• Geowiki ported to GF
• Links from cloud-based GF editor to Acewiki and back. Lexicon extension with the editor.
