In this demo I show how two distinct but somewhat similar terms (or word forms) in separate term base ontologies are compared. Their similarity is evaluated with data on related term occurences in given text corpora. The ontoR toolbox developed for Content Factory term management is utilized in the statistical analysis.

ICT and Cultural Heritage: Research, Innovation and Policy - ERCIM news

ERCIM News devoted Issue 86, in July 2011, to ICT in Cultural Heritage. The issue appeared before the work on Cultural Heritage in MOLTO started.

ICFP 2012, the 17th ACM SIGPLAN International Conference on Functional Programming, starts tomorrow in Copenhagen with the affiliated events, and lasts between 9-15 September 2012. On the last day, next Saturday 15 September 2012 there will be a tutorial on GF held by A. Ranta, Thomas Hallgren and Krasimir Angelov. If you want to talk about MOLTO, be sure to meet them there.

MOLTO Joint Day with MONNET

MOLTO presented at the Dagstuhl seminar on The Multilingual Semantic Web

Aarne Ranta, coordinator of MOLTO, and Jeroen Grondelle, from BI, are attending this week, 02.09.12 — 07.09.12, the Dagstuhl seminar on The Multilingual Semantic Web. Statements and visions from the participants are available online in preliminary form, they will eventually appear in a volume in the series of Dagstuhl Reports.

Visit at Lingsoft in Helsinki

On 14 August, I visited Lingsoft Inc in Helsinki. Lingsoft is "a full-service language management company", producing for instance the proofing tools for the Nordic languages and German in Microsoft Office products. Lingsoft is one of the most successful language technology companies, founded in 1986 and working with numerous partners and products. Recent products range from spell checking to language education tools, speech recognition, and translation.
