From the Corpora-List "Release: 23M German-English parallel sentences from patent text"

Institut für Computerlinguistik -- Universität Heidelberg

We are happy to announce the release of a parallel corpus of patent text for the German-English language pair. The corpus has been constructed from EPO, WIPO and USPTO patent documents extracted from the MAREC collection and contains 23 million sentence pairs from all patent text sections.

All sentences are labeled with metadata: patent document id, patent family, patent classification and publication date.

The corpus is distributed under a Creative Commons License.

The LaTeCH workshop series is a forum for researchers who develop technology for improved information access to data from the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Cultural Heritage. Applications in these domains are rapidly emerging, while they typically entail new challenges with respect to NLP resources and workflows.

TAUS translation technology landscape

The 60-page report will help beginners to understand the main uses for different types of translation technology, differentiate offerings and make informed decisions.

How does MOLTO technologies fit into this landscape will be answered at the final project meeting in Barcelona on May 23, 2013.

The DGT (Directorate-General for Translation), the translation office of EU has published an MT-themed issue of Languages and translation at

This issue contains many relevant articles about the use and evaluation of MT in EU translations, and a translator survey on the usefulness (or lack thereof) of MT tools. Many EU-funded MT research project are introduced (sadly, not MOLTO).

ELRA releases free linguistic resources

ELRA plays a leading role in distribution and sharing of Language Resources (LRs) within the Human Language Science and Technology Community http://www.elra.info/Free-LRs,26.html. Over the last decade, ELRA has compiled a large list of resources that constituted its Catalogue of LRs. ELRA has negotiated distribution rights with the LR owners and made such resources available under fair conditions and a clear legal framework.
