Last day to reserve your stay at Residencia in Barcelona

For your convenience we have pre-reserved a number of rooms at the University lodging facility, the Residencia Torre Girona. The deadline for the block of rooms is on 08th May, 2013.

You will receive a booking number when you register for our final meeting or for the Open Day.

After today, room reservation in the Residence, will be subject to availability.

MOLTO (Multilingual Online Translation) is a European research project in FP7 with six participants from six countries. The mission of MOLTO is to develop tools high-quality translation in multiple languages in real time. This ambitious goal is reached by restricting the scope of translation to well-defined domains.

What Can a Technical Translator Expect from Machine Translation - invited talk at the Swedish technical translators' conference

I was invited to give a talk at the yearly conference of the Swedish Professional Translators' association (SFÖ); see http://www.sfoe.se/sidor/konferens-goteborg-2013--valkomna.aspx for the conference web page. The talk was in Swedish, and so are the included slides. It was a very nice event, with 370 participants, highly qualified people (100 to 150 came to my talk).

My message was that there is no fear that computers will take over translators' jobs any time soon, because of the reasons that Bar-Hillel and Martin Kay once gave and which are still valid.
